I AM WORTHY

“Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? And if worry can’t accomplish a little thing like that, what’s the use of worrying over bigger things?” Luke 12:25-26

By choosing myself, I choose to say no to stress.

Stress and Worry can have a negative impact on you physically. Aside from what it does to your mental and physical health from all the unhealthy coping mechanisms (drinking, smoking, eating, etc.) the one that is always most noticeable is the impact it leaves on your face. Yup, I’m talking about the Worry Lines. You know what I’m talking about. All those little wrinkles and creases that line your forehead and eyes from all the facial expressions you’ve made to cope with your Stress. The whole time you thought you were handling it by keeping it to yourself, pushing through it, not working it out but then you look in the mirror and the evidence of un-checked stress is staring you in the face… literally.

So, how do we avoid this permanent fixture? Or how can we undo the damage? Now maybe you saw the title for this entry and were a little confused on how they relate. Let me help. You are worthy. See, one of the main reasons we allow ourselves to endure the amount of stress we do is because we think we don’t have a right to complain. We beat ourselves down with Guilt and Shame for wanting to say no to something that’s too much, or taking a day off from work, or setting firm boundaries with people who we want to keep in our lives… because we’ve convinced ourselves that we’ll lose something if we do. The whole time forgetting that we’re losing little bits of ourselves along the way.

Society has (over time) convinced us that unless we’re working harder, we’re not doing our part or earning our keep. If we aren’t slaving at that job we’re “lucky” to have, someone else will come in and take it from us. If we don’t take on that project no one else will and the company will “suffer.” If we don’t forgive that person for the wrong way they treat us, they won’t think we love them and then they’ll leave. I’m going to empower you to STOP STRESSING about things like this. Things that aren’t yours to worry about. The scripture says “Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? And if worry can’t accomplish a little thing like that, what’s the use of worrying over bigger things?” (Luke 12:25-26) and I want you to really think about it. All the time you spend worrying about losing something that’s not valuing you, is it adding to or taking away from your life?

Eliminating Stressful moments adds time to your life.

I want to leave you with this. You are worthy of self care. You are worthy of respect. You are worthy of a day off. You are worthy of good health. You are worthy of love. Keep reminding yourself of your worth and my hope is that one day (soon) you’ll believe it, like I do. I love you, and I’m rooting for you. Keep conquering daily!
