“And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.” Romans 8:30
I am my dreams personified.
Confidence isn’t just about holding your head high and believing you can do anything you set your mind to, or being bold enough to chase your dreams. Confidence is also about recognizing a touch of destiny in you. Ask yourself, do you believe we all have a predestined purpose in life? Do you believe that your steps have been ordered and God is in control of all that happens to us? Some of you may not, and if you don’t this entry may not mean as much to you, but if you do… when is the last time you checked your purpose? And when you checked that purpose, did you check to see if it lined up with what you said you wanted to do… or what you are currently doing?
Story time (and I’ll keep it brief) When I came out of undergrad I wanted to get an MFA in writing. I love to write, always have. I’d been taking pieces of computer paper from my dad’s printer since I was young, stapling them together and making little books that I wrote and illustrated. I wanted to write, but I had no idea what about, and a friend told me I should write about relationships and emotions and helping people realize themselves. Yeah, right. LOL at age 22 that was laughable to me because where was my training and my experience to do that? Well, fast forward 10 years I started this blog where I’m doing just that, for all of you. I started this blog for me, and somehow you, dear reader, found it and resonated with it and I am now one of my biggest dreams personified. But it came out in a way I never expected, a way I never planned for. I took a lot of detours to get here but being here has been just as fulfilling for me as I hope its been for you.
So let me affirm you today, so that you also can walk in your destiny and experience those dreams in real time:
Affirmation 1: It’s okay to get out of your own way. Sometimes we talk ourselves out of things because we don’t think we have enough experience, or training or connections to do something and do it well. Stop doing that. If the door opens, walk through it. If someone offers you something, take it. Stop being the biggest and loudest NO in your ear.
Affirmation 2: Favor isn’t fair. When you are called to something, you won’t always be able to explain how you got there. You won’t always have the degree, or the connection (so you thought) or the time put in to gain you access. That’s called favor. And when God favor’s you, it’s HIS business how you got there, not yours. The scripture says “And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.” (Romans 8:30) But he’s not going to force you into the favorable space. He’s going to call you. Will you answer?
Affirmation 3: Be determined to be destined. Now that you are ready to walk in your destiny, be determined not to let anything push you out of that called space. Because Doubt, Anxiety, Self-consciousness, Depression… they will try! And so will outside sources who don’t know why you would be chosen and not them. So put your foot down and grind, because remember that even if you don’t know the HOW of getting here, you absolutely know the why: because it’s where you’re supposed to be.
My destiny is where I’m supposed to be.
I love my readers so much. You guys give me purpose and drive and definition. I get to be destined with you and it’s so fulfilling. So thank you for sticking it out with me. Thanks for letting me pour into you. And I hope that from this particular pour, you recognize your own power and will do what you can to pour into others with your obedience and success. I love you, and as always, I’m rooting for you. Keep conquering daily.
