“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Romans 8:28
I have room in my life for what I have to do and what I want to do.
Balance is so much more important than we give it credit for. In order for anything to work properly, there must be balance. A car won’t drive correctly unless the weight is balanced on 4 wheels. A house won’t support the weight of it’s roof without the walls being designed to balance that load. Even with your mental, if they’re giving you meds for depression or anxiety they are treating a chemical imbalance in your brain to try and help you regulate your emotions from a medicinal standpoint. The earth can’t even spin properly without balance. And yet, we think we can carry the weight of the world without balancing our lives… such interesting creatures we humans are.
For whatever reason we have decided that we can be all work and no play and have balance in our lives. Or we can bury emotions deep within and not feel them and we’ll get through life with a powder keg of pent up feelings weighing us down unequally. We keep secrets instead of talking, take care of everyone else and neglect ourselves, put everything we feel that we HAVE to do right up front and decide that what we want to do can be taken care of eventually… but when does eventually come? The bible says “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” (Romans 8:28) Usually when I see this scripture it’s a reminder that God uses the bad things that come into our lives to sustain us just as much as the good… but this morning I want you to remember that the good things need to be present to work with the bad. Vacations, splurges, PTO… there is room in your life for them. And not just the “big things”… those morning meditations, binge watching a favorite show, taking a day to do nothing… or just saying no. I know it’s easier said than done, so let’s affirm it into a better position for becoming reality.
Affirmation 1: I am Embracing Balance. Start with telling yourself that balance is a GOOD THING. Balance is the only way to get through life and we know you want to do that, so if you begin each day reminding yourself that you’re going to embrace the thing that makes you healthy and happy… it will become a much more tangible thing.
Affirmation 2: For every work there must be play. A life of nothing but work leaves nothing for you in the end… no matter how much you love what you do. Start reminding yourself to balance the scales of work and play so you don’t wake up one morning wishing you had taken that trip, or bought that book to read, or just took time to smell the roses. You won’t regret it.
My loves, I pray that today you find balance and work toward a more balanced life. My hope for you is that you realize that YOU DESERVE a balanced life… and in such discover your self-worth… and never lose sight of it. I love you, and as always, I’m rooting for you. Keep conquering daily!
