I AM EMBRACING CLARITY

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” Proverbs 3:5-6

I can accept what I see as reality, even if that truth hurts.

You know they have that old saying “when someone shows you who they are believe them.” That’s often times easier said than done. And why is that? Because in a world that is full of turmoil and mistrust, we want to see the best in people to keep from living a pessimistic life. When someone steps on our foot, we want it to be an accident, that they didn’t see us or know they were doing it, and we want to forgive them because we need people to be good stewards and not try to intentionally hurt us. But what do you do when that doesn’t work anymore? How do you deal with personal attacks, and constant backbiting? How do you move forward when there are people insistent on holding you back? And how do you keep from losing your faith in humanity and yourself in the process?

Clarity. When something has clarity it is easy to see and hear. You understand it, and it makes sense. Clarity is a something we all want, but don’t all know how to handle it when we have it. Because the biggest part of clarity is that it doesn’t lie. It’s the truth, whether you want to accept it or not, and when you have clarity, you can’t pretend to misunderstand any longer. Now, I don’t want you to think I’m accusing you of pretending to know what’s happening in front of you… but when we don’t want to accept a reality about something we tend to pretend like we don’t see the signs. This is true on the job, when you know you need to move on but you’re too afraid of the unknown and don’t want to leave. In romantic relationships, when faced with the hard truth that you just might not be as compatible as you used to be. At the doctor’s office when they give a diagnostic report on your health. And what I have found to be the hardest of them all… learning something about a situation or a person that you just can’t forget.

So what do we do? We want clarity, because we want to see and know the truth about what’s happening around us… but we don’t because sometimes the truth is a lot to handle and ignorance is bliss. And when the truth is a lot to handle, that’s when depression and anxiety and other mental blockers start to spiral. I don’t want that for you. Let’s do some affirming to hopefully make it a little less anxiety ridden.

Affirmation 1: I am embracing Clarity. The first, like I always say, is to embrace it. If you open yourself up to the truth, no matter how much it hurts, you can endure. You want to be able to make informed decisions and that comes from not just seeing/hearing the truth but accepting it. So embrace it and let it do what it’s designed to do… give you real true options.

Affirmation 2: You can accept it, but that doesn’t mean you can’t change it. So let me be perfectly clear here. Reality and the perception of reality are not quite the same thing. Reality is the real of the situation. Perception of reality is how you interpret and move forward with that reality. Some realities have to just be accepted, most actually. But your perception of what that means for your life is totally up to you. You can hear the doctor say you have high blood pressure, and perceive that you won’t be on medications the rest of your life. You can hear that your job won’t give you a raise, and perceive that it’s time to find better employment elsewhere. That perception is what you have control over, so make it a good perception and make the best choices possible for yourself.

Affirmation 3: I can do all things through Christ. Yup, I’m pulling out an oldie but goodie. God says if we trust Him, He’s going to direct our path. That means allowing Him to bring clarity. And clarity doesn’t mean understanding the why of it all, just seeing and accepting it. And God will help you to do that, each and every time.

Reader friends, you don’t have to be afraid of the truth. You don’t have to be anxious of it or depressed by it. It is my prayer for your today that you find peace in clarity and passion for your gifts and talents. That you don’t let your fears hold you back and you ease into the world. I love you, and I’m always rooting for you. Keep conquering daily.
