“No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the LORD.” Isaiah 54:17
I have promise and can walk in what’s been promised to me.
Touch not my anointed, and do my prophets no harm. This scripture has become a bit of a mantra for me over the years, that I would tap into whenever I felt like I was under attack unjustly. Unjust attacks… are you familiar with those? Those moments in life where you can’t seem to get things right because someone is intentionally making life hard for you. Maybe they’re holding you back at work, by not giving you credit for your efforts. Or maybe their spreading rumors about you to make other people not like you or worse not want to get to know you. Maybe they’re just being mean every chance they get, no matter how hard you’re trying to be nice. Or, and I truly think this is the worst display, they’re pretending everything is cool to your face and doing God knows what behind your back. Just touching your positive spirits and doing all kinds of harm to your mental health.
But if we’re being honest about it… who can touch your mental health? Who has access to your deepest thoughts and peace of mind? Yeah, you know the answer… you. Only you. And sometimes that’s hard to admit. Why? Because it means that you have control… and maybe you don’t have it as together as you thought. Guess what. That’s okay. None of us have it together all the time. Some of us rarely have it together at all, despite what we portray. But you know what you do have? Promise. The quality of potential excellence. And on this resurrection Sunday, I’m here to remind you that Jesus died because of that Promise. You weren’t born yet, but even thousands of years ago, God knew you had the quality of potential excellence inside of you and that was worth something… the life of His only son. So he gave a great gift, and with that gift of eternal life… He also gave some additional promises to help you get through every difficult moment you would face in life. He promised to always be there, to guide you, to reward your efforts, and to make it worth it in the end. So before you walk away from this reading, let’s affirm and keep you motivated.
Affirmation 1: I am embracing Promise. You have to start by embracing your potential today. Despite every mistake you’ve made and every future mistake you will make, that quality of potential excellence is bursting at your seams and you get to embrace that and walk in it. God didn’t make a mistake when He made you, and He doesn’t regret you… so don’t you regret you.
Affirmation 2: Promise is Perfect. The beautiful thing about potential is that it’s still developing. It’s ALWAYS developing, and growing and changing. And that makes it’s perfect because it is in a constant state of becoming. And what is constantly becoming cannot be held down by what is. Embrace the perfection that is your potential to always become better than what you were. You are becoming.
Affirmation 3: His promise is greater. No matter what you’re up against, the promises of God are bigger, stronger and never failing. Lean into those instead of the pain this world will continue to throw at you, and you will be able to endure.
My loves, I thank God for you and your promise today. I thank Him that His work on you is unfinished and you get to keep becoming who He has planned for you to be. Everyday as you prioritize your mental health, your relationship with Him and others, and getting it right, you realize your potential and your promise and it’s just perfect. I love you, I’m praying for you, and I’m so grateful that you woke up this morning, ready and always conquering. Keep going.
