I AM EMBRACING SACRIFICE

“You will enjoy the fruit of your labor. How joyful and prosperous you will be!” Psalm 128:2

I know that my hard work will pay off and the reward will be worth it!

Where are my fellow workaholics at today? I know you’re out there. You work more hours than you have to, more jobs than you should, and harder than you feel valued for. Why are we like this? There’s a few reasons… Maybe you’re trying to make ends meet. It really is hard out here and there’s really just not enough to go around with the way our society is set up. Maybe you have too much time on your hands and being idle leaves you to your own thoughts and that’s not a place you want to be so you fill your time and mind with things (whew! If I called you out… sorry not sorry!) And maybe you have a goal, something that means so much to you and you know it’s taking up more of your time than you would like but if you don’t do it your goal will be just that much further away… today, I’m talking to you.

Sacrifice. An act of giving up something valued for the sake of something else regarded as more important or worthy. That’s what you’re doing. Sacrificing. Working towards that goal that is more important and worthy to you so you can live the life you desire. And it’s hard. I know. It’s hard to miss things you don’t want to miss, and to stay up later than you should. And to spend money on things you’d rather not. To save money you’d rather spend. And it doesn’t always feel worth it. When you’re tired, and lonely, and people aren’t saying thank you or valuing your sacrifice it can be hard to continue with it. So let’s affirm and keep you pushing towards your greater!

Affirmation 1: You are worth it. That’s the first part. You deserve the goal you’re trying to reach and no matter what is happening along the way, you deserve every bit of success that is in your sights. That’s it, that’s the affirmation.

Affirmation 2: Faith without works is dead. You have to put in the work, faith in the miracle isn’t enough. That goal isn’t going to reach itself no matter how much we wish it could. And work means sacrifice. So we’re going to embrace these tough times until we get to the other side, okay?

Affirmation 3: Compliments are sprinkles. When you think about sprinkles, they don’t add any flavor or nutritional value to your dessert. They’re just decorations that make it sparkle a little. You don’t require the approval of anyone else to be fabulous. You don’t need it. It’s nice to have, yes. But no ice cream sundae lost it’s flavor because it didn’t have sprinkles. So don’t bank on them. Don’t bank on anyone valuing your sacrifices more than you, if they do at all. Just appreciate them as little extras when they come.

My sacrificing friends… I see you. I see how hard you’re working and what you’ve been giving up to reach your goals and I want to tell you that I’m so proud of you! Because you didn’t even know before today that I was rooting for you and you’ve been pressing on anyway. But now that you know, I hope this little sprinkle helps you see how great you are and how great you’re going to continue to be. I love you, and I’m rooting for you. Always. Keep conquering daily!
