I AM EMBRACING DISCERNMENT

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9

I can take the time to think this through before making a decision.

My brain moves a mile a minute sometimes. I woke up this morning to a message regarding my schedule and I instantly started scheduling, processing and planning all as I was opening my eyes. I had to stop myself from moving too fast and get things into perspective… I didn’t have to do any of that in that moment. Do you ever do that? Have something presented to you and instantly work yourself into a frensy by not stopping to think first? Do you find yourself feeling pressured into making decisions hastily out of fear, urgency, anxiety? How are you at discernment?

We all feel the pressure to do the right thing. It’s important to our lives that we make the right choice, no matter what it’s about. The right choice of career, relationship, diet… all of these things will impact the kind of life we’re going to live. And if we’re in a frazzled mental or emotional state our ability to do that well can be impacted and that’s pressure. I like to tell my clients that the only right choice is the one they can live with. But how do you know what you can live with? How do you know you’re making the right choice? Let’s affirm.

Affirmation 1: I am embracing discernment. Discernment is simply the ability to judge well. And judgement is not something that happens in an instant. You have to weigh the facts, the pros and cons, the consequences, the potential outcomes. And you can do all of that if you embrace the process. Let go of the need to just judge, and get more comfortable with the idea of doing it WELL.

Affirmation 2: Take your time. Like we said before, making a good judgement call doesn’t happen without weighing all the things so take your time! Give yourself some grace and don’t be rash or rushed. If you need a day, take a day. If you need a week, take a week. Be responsible with your decision making and don’t turn it into avoidance, but there’s something to be said of not rushing to make an important decision.

Affirmation 3: Open yourself up to inspiration. When dealing with discernment, you want to be open to higher thinking. The bible says “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9) So pray, talk to a spiritual advisor, go to therapy, tap into that higher thinking that may be just beyond your reach this time to help you with decision making. When you take the pressures off yourself you open your mind to peaceful processing.

My loves, I believe in your ability to embrace thinking things through and making better judgement calls for your life. I know you can slow down and seek help with tough choices and will make the choice you can live with. I know you have it in you to ease your stress by being comfortable with a healthy process and getting to that healthy process. I truly believe in you and I hope you can believe in yourself too! I love you, and as always, I’m rooting for you! Keep conquering daily!
