“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5
How I see myself matters most.
Hey y’all. Happy New Year! I hope you brought it in the best way you could imagine. I want to sit there with you today. How’s your imagination? Is it intact from your childhood? Have you become too tarnished by life to be able to imagine like you used to? Or are you still holding on to your ability to dream… Do you remember what that was like as a child? To be able to envision all of the possibilities for yourself, for your future. You could be a super hero, a fairy princess, and everything works out for you every time. Life isn’t like that, unfortunately. We are often hit hard with the realities that we don’t have as much control as our imaginations let us think we did. But what if I told you you have more control than you think?
The beautiful thing about imagining is it controls how we see ourselves. When we imagine success, happiness, power, fame, satisfaction, we see ourselves in a beautiful way. We see ourselves in the purest form because it’s when we see our greatest desires for our lives and in those moments of imagining… we find peace. You know, God is the original imaginer. He told Jeremiah “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5) He imagined what He wanted for him before He even made him. How powerful is that? To have your calling and purpose decided before your conception. God gave us that power as well. To envision what we’d like to have for ourselves and to consult Him on how to make it possible. If we have this power, why are we so afraid to use it? Because hurt, shame, fear… we’ve fallen so many times it can be difficult to see more, see greater. But what has happened to us thus far does not have to dictate the rest of our lives. No matter what has occurred before 2024, your imagination does not have to falter. It does not have to be broken. You CAN see better for yourself… and better of yourself.
Now I’m not big on resolutions because in this space we’re conquering our struggles daily. So we don’t need to make big commitments to tangible (or intangible) actions when we’re often just trying to make it through the day. But I am going to challenge you to embrace imagining this year. Embrace imagining the best possible outcome in adverse situations. Embrace imagining your most peaceful moments and creating them for yourself. Embrace imagining a life for yourself that is less anxious, less worrisome, and less hard. Embrace imagining your best self, and walking in that beautiful person.
No list of affirmations today. I’m encouraging you to write them for yourself. I’ve shown you how, friend! And it’s the perfect opportunity for you to put that imagination to work. I speak prosperity over your 2024, peace of mind, endless growth, and all the desires of your heart. May everything you imagine for yourself be yours. I love you, and always, I’m rooting for you. Keep conquering, and happy new year!
